THINKmf | A Microfinance Discussion Network

Started by an independent study course at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, THINK Microfinance is a portal where students and professionals interested in sustainable social development through microfinance can share their intellectual wealth, including microfinance knowledge, resources and experiences. Please share!

About THINKmf

THINK Microfinance was inspired by a trip to Honduras, where four University of Pennylvania students assissted in structuring Fundacion Cosecha Sostenible Honduras (FOCOHSO)’s fledgling microfinance institution in the rural areas around Yoro (about two hours out from San Pedro Sula).  The students concluded their project with a FUCOHO Presentation [Spanish] (see FUCOHO Honduras Project [English Summary]); however, they realized that they did not know or understand nearly enough to provide any conclusions that were both actionable and valuable.

So we, the students, created an independent course at the Wharton School’s Management and Finance departments, complete with syllabus and lectures; the course culminates in a final project [to be provided].

This is a place where we want people like us to share their microfinance knowledge, resources and experience.  We have provided the entirety of our lecture (currently still in progress) and hope that both students and professionals can share their intellectual wealth with the rest of us.

Thanks in advance and we look forward to hearing from you!
