Oct 01 : Lending Methodology

Wharton Microfinance Independent Study Lesson 2A

This lesson covers all things lending — how to determine proper interest rates through cost of capital; the difference between declining balance and flat interest rates; loan amounts; loan terms; collateral requirements; compulsory savings. The information gets a little dense but the slides should, for the most part, be self-explanatory. The primary source for this data is the Microfinance Handbook: An Institutional and Financial Perspective, by Joanna Ledgerwood published by The World Bank in 1999.
